On this album, Ikonika steps fully into the spotlight: for the first time they take on the roles of producer, songwriter and singer. The result is a collection of ten tracks that blur the line between understated pop and club-ready dance music, creating an intimate yet expansive mood.
What strikes immediately is how the production draws from a diverse palette — airy textures, propulsive rhythms, and influences from African electronic and dance music (including subtle nods to South African sounds). On tracks like WHATCHUREALLYWANT you get echoes of the artist’s heritage through rhythmic patterns derived from traditional tabla and djembe drums, grounded in hypermodern electronic sensibilities.
