Binary Algorithms’ debut album Reminiscencias  is a vivid synthesis of memory and machine, an LP that reimagines techno’s emotional range without sacrificing momentum. Andrés Ávila sculpts cinematic synths, urban field recordings and tight drum programming into tracks that feel both intimate and monumental; the record often shifts from hymn-like, contemplative openings to acidic, club-ready peaks.

What makes Reminiscencias compelling is its genre-fluid approach: dub-techno chords, Detroit electro stabs and prog-house sweep coexist with UK bass–inspired substructure, creating unexpected but harmonious alliances.  Interludes such as “Clamor de Dolor” act as memory fragments that stitch the record together rather than serve as filler.

Though the album gestures toward themes of resistance, Latin-American identity and urban decline, it chooses texture and mood over explicit messaging, letting the music imply narrative through timbre and sequencing. The production favors a bold, skeuomorphic aesthetic—sounds are oversized and tactile, drums are elastic, and melodies carry a melancholic, cinematic sweep that rewards repeat listens. Tracks like “Cenizas” and “To Resist And Break” balance club momentum with narrative weight, suggesting scenes rather than simple grooves.

The sequencing is judicious: short vignettes cushion longer explorations, keeping the ~50-minute runtime taut and purposeful. Reminiscencias functions equally well as an invitation to the dancefloor and as music for solitary reflection—an album that asks you to move and to remember. As a debut it announces a distinct artistic voice: warm yet mechanical, nostalgic yet forward-facing.

Available across Bandcamp and major streaming services, the release is easy to access for curious listeners.  Listeners who follow modern electronic cross-pollination will find its mixtures rewarding; repeated listens reveal hidden motifs and rhythmic tricks, making Reminiscencias a record that grows in stature the more time you give it. A promising debut that hints at greater things ahead.
