Blame the Clown, the second full-length album from New Orleans duo Twisted Teens, stakes out a distinct corner in the punk and garage rock landscape with a sound that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Released in early 2026 under the Jazz Life label, the record spans 12 tracks packed into a lean 30-minute runtime, showcasing the band’s raw energy and DIY ethos.

From the opening number “Is It Real?” it’s clear that Twisted Teens aren’t aiming for polish — they’re aiming for personality. Caspian Honeywell’s gritty, unvarnished vocals pair effortlessly with RJ Santos’ twangy pedal steel, a combination that gives the music an unusual but compelling blend of garage-punk grit and old-school Americana flair.  The interplay between fast-paced punk rhythms and roots-inflected melodies — especially on tracks like “100 Bill Is Gone!” and “Circus Clown” — keeps the album energized and unpredictable.

Lyrically, Blame the Clown embraces vivid storytelling and absurd imagery, weaving moments of dark humor through songs about identity, perception, and self-reflection. This keeps the listening experience interesting, as there’s always something quirky or unexpected just under the surface.

Fans on platforms like Album of The Year have responded well overall, with user scores leaning positive and praising the record’s hooks and off-kilter charm.  However, the production’s intentionally rough edges may divide listeners: while some celebrate its immediacy, others might wish for a bit more refinement.

In essence, Blame the Clown stands as a bold statement from a band unafraid to mix genres and moods. It’s loud, a little messy, and thoroughly alive — a testament to punk’s enduring spirit and the unpredictable paths it can take.
