femtanyl’s debut full-length MAN BITES DOG is a visceral and unrelenting plunge into self-described digital hardcore chaos, released on 13 February 2026. The Toronto duo of Noelle Stockwood and Juno Callender take their bitcrushed, rave-infused sound to new extremes, blending elements of breakcore, electro-industrial, and experimental electronica across 10 tracks and roughly 32 minutes of music.

From the opening salvo of “BODY THE PISTOL” through to the title track, the record hits like a collision between early Machine Girl riffs and the abrasive intensity of classic hardcore electronic acts. Fans online praise its energy and creativity — especially tracks like “HEAD UP” and “SHOWS YOU THE WAY TO THE HIWAY” — while admitting that the sheer density of sound can be overwhelming.

Critically, reactions lean mixed but intrigued. Pitchfork’s review points to the album’s raw, precise beats and chaotic production, describing its jagged rhythm shifts and aggressive sonic palette as both thrilling and exhausting. Moments of melodic respite are rare but memorable, showing that femtanyl can temper their aggression without sacrificing punch.

For many listeners, MAN BITES DOG represents a significant, if divisive, evolution from femtanyl’s earlier EPs, pushing deeper into experimental terrain while still grounded in physical, club-ready energy. Some fans argue that the record’s relentless pace and similar textures can blur track identities after repeated listens, while others embrace the intensity as part of its identity.

Overall, MAN BITES DOG feels like both a statement and a gambit — an album that demands full immersion and rewards listeners willing to meet its frenzied pace head-on. It’s abrasive, it’s bold, and it’s unmistakably femtanyl.
