Effie’s pullup to busan 4 morE hypEr summEr it’s gonna be a fuckin moviE is a compact, gleefully messy statement: six tracks, about 13 minutes, that shove hyperpop, blog-house textures and tongue-in-cheek Korean/English swagger into a single sprint. The result feels less like a polished pop product and more like a handful of vivid Polaroids — loud, slightly bruised, and addictive.

Producer kimj’s skittish, sometimes blown-out beats give Effie room to flit between chanty hooks and clipped, percussive delivery; there’s an intentional roughness here that’s part of the charm. “MAKGEOLLI BANGER” is the EP’s sunniest mischief — a party anthem that folds cultural name-dropping into sparkling hyperpop gloss — while “2025기침” channels rage-rap energy with a crunchy, one-syllable attack. “CAN I SIP 담배” plays like a drugged lullaby gone sideways, punctuated by breathy gasps and playful vocal stutters.

Where the EP really works is in its economy: little musical jokes, sudden stylistic turns and a closing moment (“thankie thankie”) that softens the chaos into something human and oddly intimate. Effie doesn’t attempt a tidy narrative; she trades coherence for character, and it mostly pays off. Listeners on streaming services and fan sites have been split between calling it brilliant fun and glorified noise — which, for this artist, feels like a compliment.

At roughly a quarter-hour, the project begs repeat listens rather than deep contemplation. If you love bright abrasive pop that refuses to play by the K-pop rulebook, this EP is a thrill — raw, slightly reckless, and defiantly its own thing.
