Electronic music innovator Flying Lotus has officially announced his upcoming EP Big Mama, set to arrive on March 6, 2026 via Brainfeeder — the influential label he founded almost twenty years ago. This marks a notable milestone as his first proper release on the imprint he started back in 2008, after years of shaping experimental, genre‑bending sounds that blend electronic, jazz, hip‑hop, and avant‑garde influences.

The seven‑track Big Mama is described by the Los Angeles‑based producer — real name Steve Ellison — as an “experimental, maximalist, hyperfast, electronic burst of energy.” Rather than relying on traditional loops, Ellison crafted the EP as a continuous, unpredictable journey, assembling it piece by piece using only a laptop and a controller during a creative period spent in New Zealand.

Alongside the EP, Flying Lotus is also releasing a short film of the same name, with an official teaser already circulating online. Though details about the film are still emerging, the multimedia project underscores FlyLo’s growing footprint in both music and visual art, following his recent work directing and scoring the science‑fiction horror film Ash, which premiered earlier this year.

Track titles confirmed so far include Big Mama, Captain Kernel, Antelope Onigiri, In The Forest – Day, Brobobasher, Horse Nuke, and Pink Dream. Fans have reacted enthusiastically online, pointing to the project’s bold sonic ambition and its reflection of Ellison’s signature boundary‑pushing approach.

With Big Mama, Flying Lotus continues to expand his creative universe — blurring the lines between sound design, cinematic narrative, and electronic experimentation. The EP and its visual companion promise a fresh chapter in his career that longtime listeners and newcomers alike won’t want to miss.
